The Kunchi Festival

I haven't posted in a while, because things have been a bit routine, mainly involving classes. But this week is different, something really big. October 7th through 9th is the Kunchi festival, the largest festival in Nagasaki. Huge parts of the city have stalls set up selling delicious food, and the Suwa Shrine hosts traditional dances and float performances. The first night's pictures didn't come out great, but I'll post them anyway. Today (wednesday as I'm typing this) I got there a bit earlier and got some excellent pictures. Not a huge number though, since I was busy enjoying the festival. Planning on going again tomorrow, will post more then.

Another float

Saw this cat hanging out on a roof

Went to Ohato on the second day, tons of stalls set up

These hamsters were so cute!

Matcha flavored shaved ice topped with red beans. A very Japanese snack

The view from Dejima Wharf as sunset approached

A small shrine was set up near Ohato as well
